MACH: Master Agility Champion
and other AKC Titles

MACH stands for Master Agility Champion title awarded by AKC (American Kennel Club). To achieve this title the dog and the handler must compete as a team earning first Novice, Open, Excellent and then Master Titles. There are two games to achieve this title: Standard which includes the contact equipment (A-frame, bridge, teeter and table) and the Jumpers with Weaves. The Novice, Open and Excellent titles require three qualifying runs with progressively harder requirements and courses. The Master titles requires 10 perfect runs at the Masters Level. Qualifying runs at the Masters level also earn one speed point for each full second under course time(partial seconds are eliminated.). Once the team is competing with both runs in one day at the Master level they start to accumulate "Double Q's". A team earns a Double Q when they qualify 100% perfect on both runs in one day. To earn the MACH title, the team must have 20 double Q's and 750 points!

Note: January 1, 2013 Excellent was called Excellent A and Master was Excellent B. The titles and requirements have remained the same, but the level was renamed. Thus you will find references to Excellent A and Excellent B. Just substitute Excellent for Excellent A and Master for Excellent B wherever referenced.

Additional games for titles include: FAST (Fifteen and send) and Time 2 Beat. The FAST game includes a distance challenge that must be done to qualify. If the FAST, the Standard and Jumpers are all in the Excellent B level are qualified in one trial day, that is a Triple Q and 10 triple Q's is another title (TQX).

Time2Beat also has it's own title (T2B) at 10 qualifying runs. This game has no experience level, just jump heights. The fastest qualifying time in each jump height sets the time and each qualifying time receives points by the percentage of their time to the fastest time set. It takes 15 qualifying runs and 100 points for a title and the points and Q's are not held over toward the next level title.

July 1, 2012 AKC has added and grand fathered Metallic Titles. These are multiple of already achieved Excellent B level titles. Thus once achieving Standard, Jumpers and other titles there are awards for increments of 25 more qualifying runs:
Bronze: 25 Qualifying runs
Silver: 50 Qualifying runs
Gold: 75 Qualifying runs
Century: 100 Qualifying runs

Once a Century title is achieved, then the titles add as follows:
Bronze 2: 125 Qualifying runs
Silver 2: 150 Qualifying runs
Gold 2: 175 Qualifying runs
Century 2: 200 Qualifying runs

etc

Our little camp at the Hood River Trial
Due to the high winds at Hood River, I didn't set up my tent. Rather I put sun screen mesh between two other tents and called it good for the 4 day trial.
